A Targeted 10,000-lb Max Towing Capacity
The F-150 Lightning can tow boats, campers, and more!
It seems like all the trucks these days are in constant competition. In the light-duty segment, the game is all about upping towing capacity a notch year after year in hopes of claiming the mantle of best in class.
However, you don’t care about best in class. No. You just want to get the job done, and whatever truck has the muscle for it is fair game! For all but the toughest towing tasks, the F-150 Lightning’s targeted 10,000-pound max towing capacity when properly equipped is more than enough.
This all-electric Ford accomplishes that feat with its extended-range battery, although even the standard-range battery offers a targeted max towing capacity of 7,700 pounds when properly equipped. With the 5-figure number, you can expect to tow:
- Recreational vehicles
- Water ski boats
- Construction equipment
Advanced Towing & Hauling Technology
Tow like a pro with trailer hitch and backup assistance.
The F-150 Lightning has plenty of smart towing technologies. You’ve seen some of them in Ford pickups before, but some of them are fresh off the line for the all-electric F-150. It’s easier to hook up your trailer and control it with available:
- Pro Trailer Hitch Assist, which automatically controls the steering wheel, throttle, and braking to align the hitch ball and trailer coupler. All you need to do is hold down a button and control the gears!
- Pro Trailer Backup Assist™, so you can back up with a trailer in tow. Just rotate a knob in the direction you want the trailer to go.
- Trailer Reverse Guidance, so you have more visibility as you back up a trailer. Cameras in the sideview mirrors and visual guides in the center dash screen give you a clear view of where the trailer is going—plus coaching as needed.
Available Smart Hitch is useful too. It measures the tongue weight of a trailer being hitched, so the driver can evenly distribute the weight. If the current hitch weight is too high or too low, Smart Hitch will let you know and can even guide you through properly tensioning a weight-redistributing hitch.
