2021 Ford Ranger
A long-standing classic in the smaller truck category, the 2021 Ford Ranger gets a new look with updated exterior and interior design. Offering a multitude of driver-assistance features standard along with extensive off-road capabilities, the Ranger will get you wherever you may roam.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
There are three trims available for the 2021 Ford Ranger, the base XL, the midlevel XLT, and the upper-level Lariat trim. You can also add an STX Package available for the XL, the Tremor off-road package available on the XLT and Lariat, or the FX4 available on all three trims. The STX package adds 18-inch black wheels. The FX4 package adds off-road tires, while the Tremor adds 32-inch Continental General grabber tires. All trims can be configured with either the extended cab, which Ford calls SuperCab, or a larger crew cab and a 5-foot or 6-foot bed.
Upgrading to the XLT grants a rear step bumper and adds access to a bed liner. The Lariat will add power heated outside mirrors, a chrome grille, and options like chrome exhaust tips, tonneau cover, and a gray grille.
Engine (Power)
There's one engine option that drives all trims and packages on the 2021 Ford Ranger. A powerful 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission gets you where you need to go. The combination will make 270 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. The smaller engine size provides ample power while still getting good fuel economy at an EPA estimated 26 mpg. The Ranger is able to tow up to 7,500 pounds, which is an outstanding balance of power, economy, and towing capability.
Performance
The drivetrain on the Ranger is rear-wheel drive standard, with the option for four-wheel drive. If you opt for the FX4 package, that will add a finely tuned suspension and rear locking differential to help with your off-road pursuits. For further off-road features, the Tremor package will add FOX 2.0 monotube dampers, a lifted suspension, rear piggyback reservoirs, and leaf springs in the rear with coil-over springs in the front. Finally, the four selectable drive modes, grass/gravel/snow, mud, sand, and normal, will adapt to the current conditions.
Interior
The 2021 Ford Ranger combines state-of-the-art technology and exquisite design to make your journey comfortable and convenient. The XL has cloth seats for five and chrome interior accents. The XLT gets you the SYNC 3 infotainment system featuring wireless phone connectivity as well as premium cloth upholstery. The well-equipped Lariat adds leather seating, a voice activation controlled entertainment system, and heated front seats. Optional features include a leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, a bigger 8-inch touch screen, premium audio, and rubber floor mats for easy cleanup.
Safety Features
Nothing is more important than getting where you're going safely, and the 2021 Ford Ranger has plenty of safety features. Leading off is electronic stability control, a four-wheel anti-lock braking system, and traction control to help you stay on your intended path. Standard on all trims is a forward-collision warning system, automatic emergency braking, and an advanced air bag system. Finally, optional features include adaptive cruise control, a blind-spot monitoring system, and rear cross-traffic alert to help you stay safe.
