How often should I change the oil in my Ford vehicle?
The answer to this question depends on the model, model year, and your driving habits and conditions. As a general rule, your vehicle’s engine oil should be changed every 5,000 to 10,000 miles to keep the engine running smoothly.
If you use your vehicle for towing, short-distance driving, or driving in extreme temperatures, more frequent oil changes may be needed. Many newer Ford vehicles have an Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor that can alert you when an oil change is needed.
For a precise and accurate interval, check the scheduled maintenance section in your vehicle’s owner’s manual. If you don’t have the physical manual, you can find it online on the Ford manufacturer website.
How often should I rotate my tires?
Tire rotations are often performed when drivers bring in their cars for oil changes. The recommended interval is similar to that of an oil change. Usually, a tire rotation should be performed every 5,000 to 7,500 miles.
Again, you can check the scheduled maintenance section in your vehicle’s owner’s manual for a more precise interval for your specific model.
Tire rotations are important because they help the tire tread wear evenly and more slowly.
How long should Ford brakes last?
There may not be a set interval for brake pad replacement, but you should inspect your vehicle’s brake pads at least once a year. This will help ensure they don’t go too long without replacement.
Brake pads generally last anywhere between 30,000 and 60,000 miles. The exact lifespan depends on the pads you use as well as your driving habits: e.g., how quickly you come to a stop, etc.
You may be able to inspect the brake pads yourself. Typically, they’re visible through the spokes in the wheel. When the brake pads are less than a quarter-inch thick, it’s time to replace them with a new set of pads.
Why use genuine Ford parts?
Ford OEM (original equipment manufacturer) parts are made specifically for Ford vehicles according to manufacturer specifications. If you’re comparing Ford parts and aftermarket parts, you’ll find genuine Ford parts have the following advantages:
- Better performance because Ford parts are the perfect fit
- High quality that matches the quality of your vehicle
- Warranty coverage (aftermarket parts may void your vehicle’s warranty coverage)
