To make everything easier for you, here are some of the most frequently asked questions about returning a car at the end of your lease:

Q: How do I end a lease?

A: There are a couple of ways you can end your lease. First, you can return the car when your lease term is up. Another option is to consider financing it instead. It’s also possible to end a lease early. In that case, you’ll have to cover the payments for the rest of your lease term, but it will take the car off your hands for you.

Q: Do I have to return my car to the same dealership that I leased it from?

A: No, you can return it to any dealership, but returning it to our Ford dealership will make it easier to keep everything organized, especially if you’re thinking of signing up for another lease or buying a car once your term is up.

Q: Can I choose to buy the car instead?

A: Yes. If you’ve grown attached to the car and you’d like to stick with it long-term, our finance center can discuss a few auto loan options with you and switch you over from leasing to financing.

Q: Will I be charged for anything when I return the car?

A: That depends. Since you’ll be returning the vehicle and it’ll be on our lot again, many lease agreements include limits on mileage and on customizing the vehicle. Going over the limit or any customization can result in fees.

Q: Should I get service before returning the car?

A: Yes. In addition to keeping the car under a certain number of miles and not adding any accessories, you should return the car in good condition. This includes keeping up on its routine maintenance and inspections and getting any service problems, repairs, or wear and tear taken care of.

Q: Can I sign up for a new lease right away?

A: Yes, that’s one of the perks of leasing. You can choose to start a new lease for the same model or another model and essentially upgrade to a brand-new car.

Q: What should I bring when I return the car?

A: To get everything organized at the end of your lease, you should bring your driver’s license, registration, and any items or documents that came with the car. That includes a copy of your lease agreement and any spare keys.
