2021 Ford EcoSport: The Basics

2021 Ford EcoSport TrimThe Ford EcoSport this year comes standard with a 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine capable of delivering 123 horsepower, which for most drivers is plenty to get around town. At the SE level, you can upgrade to a more powerful 2.0-liter inline-four engine if you opt for the all-wheel-drive powertrain. This one delivers 166 horsepower for a bit more of a kick when you step on the gas pedal. On most trim levels, all-wheel drive is an option, but on the SES trim, it's standard.

Speaking of trim levels, there are four available. The entry-level with basic features is the S trim. From there, you can step up to the SE that gives you a lot of technology features. The SES gives you comfort and convenience, and at the top Titanium level, you get everything the EcoSport has to offer. This year's model comes with a mild upgrade to the exterior appearance and moves some features that were previously optional to standard.

Feature Highlights by Trim Level

Starting at the base S level, you get a sound system with six speakers, dual charging ports for USB devices, an integrated Wi-Fi 4G hotspot for connectivity, and basic cruise control functionality. When you step up to the SE level, you get more features such as the Ford SYNC® infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen and satellite radio plus Apple and Android integration. You also get GPS navigation, keyless entry with push-button start, and parking sensors.

Stepping it up further, you can get additional available features like rain-sensing automatic windshield wipers, heated seats, heated mirrors, and heated steering wheel, power adjust seats, auto-dimming rearview mirrors, and even a premium nine-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system. Various personalized touches like available metallic accents and blacked-out wheels can also be had.

Cargo and Storage Space

2021 Ford EcoSport CargoOne of the aspects that really showcases the EcoSport is the vast amount of storage space you get for a compact SUV. Inside the side-hinged hatchback, you'll get 20.9 cubic feet of space for your groceries, gear, and whatever you want to haul. When you fold down the back seats, this increases to an impressive 50 cubic feet of space. The sideways-opening door is ideal for curbside loading and tight parking. Extra small-item space can be found in the center console and door pockets.
